Awards Shortlist At The Double For Coatings Leader

Coatings industry leader Sherwin-Williams has been shortlisted for two major awards, including one which has highlighted a cutting-edge product as one of the best in the business.

FIRETEX FX6000 from Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), has been named as one of ten finalists in the Passive Fire Innovation of the Year (Product or Service) category of the Security & Fire Excellence Awards 2015.

The intumescent fire protection coating boasts a market-leading, ultra-fast drying performance and high durability, ideal for offering steel structures fire protection.

The product, released to the market earlier this year, is already proving successful, with customers using the technology for the first time on major projects.

Recently FX6000 was utilised as part of a £45million development at one of Scotland’s leading shopping developments, Glasgow Forte, to offer stairwells and retail units up to 60 minutes’ fire protection.

Rick Perkins, FIRETEX Project Development Manager for Sherwin-Williams, said: “Customers are telling us they have seen real financial and practical benefits by using FX6000.

“This product means there is a much faster throughput in the shop, less mechanical handling damage and the potential to save costs on heating.

“It’s great to see this technology chosen by our peers as one which has made a real difference to the industry.”

Meanwhile, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings has also been shortlisted for a Construction Marketing Award, recognising marketing excellence across the built environment.

The company’s marketing team has been shortlisted for a campaign, London…We’ve got it Covered, which showcased the work done by Sherwin-Williams in the UK capital city.

The Security & Fire Excellence Awards 2015 will take place on November 25 at the Park Lane Hilton, London; while the Construction Marketing Award winners will be announced on December 9, also in London.
