Briefly describe your career progression within the company
I began my career at Sherwin-Williams being trained by senior and principal chemists to develop my coatings skills. This was achieved by assisting the chemists on small technical projects and conducting basic duties such as preparing and assessing test panels by various methods.
During my second year I was given the responsibility to handle technical service requests and small technical projects alone. I also became competent in the operation of high pressure spray units and I learnt the properties and behaviour of various coatings in the process.
I am currently part of a project team responsible for technology transfers between different manufacturing sites. This requires spending a significant amount of time overseas in the Middle East. Technical transfers include sourcing and evaluating alternative raw materials for use in the regions which are suitable for each selected product. This part of my role involves the manufacture of coatings products and performance evaluation testing of the final product to stringent global standards. I have also conducted on-site training relating to the transferred products and various application methods required.
